If you’re gonna spew, spew in this.

Last night around 11:30PM we heard Nila cough a strange cough…but she didn’t wake up. About an hour later, she woke up crying. I went to check on her and knew instantly that she had barfed. What I didn’t know is that she would do it six more times through the night! Nila spent last evening throwing up like she’s never done before. Literally, she’s never really thrown up before. She went through all the sheets we have for her crib, four sets of PJ’s, two baths and all of our clean washcloths before we finally settled down on the floor of her room. She slept for about two hours, and I slept for about an hour before I had to get up for work.

We took her to the doc’s today, and she said that Nila is fine. Maybe it was some recent drainage down her throat that triggered it. Maybe it was the huge portion of pasta she had for dinner last night. If you know Nila, you know that she doesn’t have much of an appetite, so when she devoured dinner, we thought it was strange, but didn’t try to stop her, figuring that she was, finally, hungry. But, like I said, she didn’t keep it down. She seems fine now – still doesn’t have much of an appetite, but she seems no worse for the wear. I, on the other hand, am exhausted, and Bob seems tired, too, from changing sheets and towels all evening. Hopefully tonight will go better!

  1. Oh poor Nila. Just make sure she gets plenty of fluids today. She’s probably a little dehydrated. Isn’t it awful when you’re baby is so sick and you feel so helpless. But I guess since you took her to the doctor that she’s going to be okay. I wonder if she’s ever going to eat pasta again or if she will always associate it with the night she threw up all night?
I hope that you get to take a nap as soon as you get home from work. I worry about you. You’re always so tired now because you’ve been losing so much sleep. Maybe one of the other family members could keep her overnight this weekend, so that you and Bob can just sleep all day. Wouldn’t that be nice! Poor Nila, I wish that I could have been there to help you with her. I hate being a long distance grandma.
